Thredbo River, Kosciuszko National Park NSW – Late Autumn 2015
“Never stop dreaming of moonbeams and fairy dust, shiny stars and the wonder of the heavens, a happier life and a better world.” James Gormley
“Autumn asks that we prepare for the future …. that we be wise in the ways of garnering and keeping. But it also asks that we learn to let go …. to acknowledge the beauty of sparseness.” Bonaro W. Overstreet
The full Moon sets over the frozen Thredbo/Crackenback Valley, Kosciuszko National Park 4.50am, 4 May 2015. “It was the kind of moon that I would want to send back to my ancestors and gift to my descendants so they know that I too, have been bruised…by beauty.” Sanober Khan, Turquoise Silence Inspired by Ailsa’s Travel Theme … More The Frozen Light of the Moon (2)
The Ramshead Range is part of the Snowy Mountains, located in the Monaro region of New South Wales and the Alpine region of Victoria, Australia. The peaks of the range are around 2,100 metres, with Mount Twynam at 2,178 metres. Because the Australian Alps are only of modest height, glaciers were formed only on the very … More Days of Earth and Sky – Ramshead Range
In the teeth of an alpine gale a few nights ago, I managed to hold the tripod still enough to capture a fleeting and subtle image of a Moon Bow arching across the Thredbo/Crackenback Valley in Kosciusko National Park. Lake Crackenback lies at the foot of the Ramshead Range in the Kosciuszko National Park, NSW Australia bordered by … More Days of Earth and Sky – Alpine Dawn

These are Lenticular clouds over Thredbo in the NSW Snowy Mountains in September 13. Lenticular clouds (Altocumulus lenticularis) are stationary clouds that form in the troposphere, normally in … More WPC – Layers
Thredbo Valley – Lake Crackenback 15 October 2013 This is another image taken the same night as previous post …. Slightly different viewpoint, a very brief break in the clouds that persistently wandered across the sky and in landscape mode. Snow can be just seen on the ridge of the Ramshead Range.
Some of these images were posted (in colour) a week ago from Crackenback in the Thredbo Valley. Snow was falling on the Ramshead Range with the sun setting below the ridge line – illuminating the cold cloud layer rolling into the valley.
