Carina Nebula NGC_3372

 

The Great Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), famous star-forming region of the southern sky. This image shows the area surrounding the Keyhole Nebula (NGC 3324) and spans about 40 light-years. The Carina Nebula is home to young, extremely massive stars, including the variable Eta Carinae (just below the Keyhole) – a star with well over 100 times the mass of the Sun.
