Winter on the Shoreline 2

The weather on the shores of Jervis Bay is ever changing –  sunrise through overhanging clouds, heavy overcast by mid morning, full sunshine in the afternoon and finishing with sun streaked misty clouds at sunset (and everything in between). A constant challenge to chose the moment that matters to make a shot … the right setting for evolving light and reflections off the sea.

It’s easy to take photos, but hard to capture the atmosphere of a moment. These images have just survived the culling process during the week as I work it all out. I’m overwhelmed by the colour that twilight and dawn bring here – and the movement of the ocean that provides a very different palette from the landscape photography I’m familiar with in the Central West.

“Hark, now hear the sailors cry,
smell the sea, and feel the sky
let your soul & spirit fly, into the mystic…”
Van Morrison
