The summit of Diamond Head is said to have the longest 360 deg land view in the world, and provides a very welcome relief to the hustle of Waikiki.
However to enjoy the experience requires some effort and can test your endurance depending on tour level of fitness. Although not technically difficult, it is also not a casual stroll – with long sections of continuous steps and an unpaved narrow trail eventually leading to the edge of the volcanic crater's rim.
The hike is well worth the effort.. Even today with light rain and mist making the trail slippery and fogging the camera lens with humidity.
It’s a wonderful “hike” including the tunnel and beautiful vista from atop. Our first visit was before it was friendlyized with the access stairways on top, and the some years later with our kids. Thanks for the flashback. M

Thanks Marty … Yes, it would be great without all the stairs and railings at top. I imagine back then you could also walk along the ridge to the bunker ?
