This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is Split – Second Story
We are currently travelling through the Canadian Rocky Mountains over 2 weeks and then up along the Alaskan coast to Ketchikan. A day or so ago on the Ice – Fields Parkway between Banff and Jasper standing proudly in the afternoon sunshine was this Mountain Goat …. its not always easy to get this close without spooking them and the shot was taken without much attention to settings for once but sometimes the moment has to be captured in that decisive split second. Occasionally the Canon 7D does its thing with intuition I think knowing what I want and need.
The mountain goat’s feet are well-suited for climbing steep, rocky slopes with pitches exceeding 60°, with inner pads that provide traction and cloven hooves that can spread apart. The tips of their feet have sharp dewclaws that keep them from slipping.
