Port Arthur is a small town and former convict settlement on the Tasman Peninsular in Tasmania, Australia – about 60 km south of Hobart. It is also one of Australia's most significant heritage areas – forming part of a World Heritage property comprising eleven remnant penal sites originally built during the 18th and 19th centuries.
In 1996 it was the scene of the worst mass murder event in post-colonial Australian history (See previous Post …. Cherish Life)
